Job Description

Dear Prospective Team Member,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this job notice.

I hope that you have precisely what we’re looking for in a candidate, so the team can take this posting down immediately and put you to work in the fun and rewarding position that we have available.

Let me first begin by sharing a little about our company and the position.

My name is Bill Soady and I am the joint owner of Learning Gate English School, in Mafra. Mafra is a beautiful town about 30 minutes from Lisbon and about 20 minutes from Lisbon airport.

This Tefl post is for a full time teacher at our school located at Rua Maria Augusta Botelho, Loja 4b, 2640-534  Mafra.

We are looking for the best candidate and want to make sure you are the most suitable person to join our team and teach in a beautiful part of Portugal with excellent clients and motivated students.

Are You An "A-Player"?

There are a lot of jobs out there today...

At Learning Gate we’re ONLY looking for “A-Players” to join our team.

“A-Players” are people who are committed to excellence in all that they do.

They can get a job anywhere, but they take the time to research the companies they’re considering working for, they’re selective in the interviews they go out on. They have a "get up and go" attitude. They go the extra mile in searching for the right position, because they’re looking for more than a job...they’re looking for a long-term career opportunity.

They’re looking to be part of a team where they can make a positive impact on the world through the work they do, whilst being challenged to become a better version of themselves.

If that doesn’t sound like you, then feel free to stop reading this page now.

However, if you think you are an “A-Player”, then please read on to learn more about the exciting opportunity we have available for the right candidate.

Fair Warning:

Our recruitment process isn’t quick or easy.

We’re going to ask you to jump through a couple of hoops to prove your character and values align with ours, otherwise you could start the job and then quickly leave. This would be a waste of your time, so it is very important we get the recruitment process right from the start.

You’ll be asked to complete two interviews. The first, a simple get to know you. The second, after a quick test of your grammar knowledge, will be all about how you teach.

Also, we’re going to take our time in making sure you’re someone we want to invest our time and resources in employing and hopefully helping to grow as a person. We will you with provide ongoing teacher training as part of your job.

What we’re really looking for is someone who wants to grow with us in the years to come.

Ok, if I still haven’t scared you away just yet, let’s continue...
